This design makes sure that the shaft sleeve bears all the wear effect while preventing the expensive slurry pump shaft from wearing. A shaft sleeve is prevented from rotating using a key, whereas normally it is the impeller’s key. Via the shaft sleeve of slurry pump, the impeller’s axial can be transferred to the external nut. If the slurry pump has a larger head, that means it has an axial load upon the shaft sleeve. This design is easy to assemble and maintain as compared to other designs. Besides, there is a large amount of space idle of a cartridge type mechanical seal as well as a large seal chamber.
