No longer isolated in little-known bulletin boards and websites, digital hate appears in the internet's mainstream.Of course, that the internet carries the promise of fostering digital citizenship does not mean that such promise inevitably will be realised.Online communications can instead foster isolation and disengagement. In response to digital hate we all have to send a powerful message to readers/viewers by challenging hate speech with counter-speech. We can help to develop an understanding that citizenship - here, digital citizenship - should include attention to the dignity and safety of other users. The net generation must equip themselves with the new awareness that many websites/media or users are not what they appear to be. In addition to asking questions and promoting awareness about the nature of media and information in cyberspace, a socially responsible net generation must acquire a mature understanding about the sinister elements that purvey that world, and where they lead. In such regard we urge everyone TO TAKE A STAND against cyberbullying.
