Stowaway to a shared dreamland

  • Karina Cao

This project is inspired by Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious, which cannot be seen but manifests itself in dreams in personified and symbolic forms. Perhaps when we dream we all collectively enter some kind of grid that can determine our past, present, and future. Mutual dreams are the idea that two or more people can share the same dream, a dream that can connect everyone, even throughout time from the present to the origins of humanity and the future. A shared dream is a free door, a liberating world for marginalized people to imagine freely, but also a way to escape from the world by a sinister villain. Through an animated video to explore while in a shared dream world, how the audience will re-explore their own identity, their deeper relationships, and how they will choose in the face of temptation. What would be the impact on society if all of humanity were to engage in dream-sharing?
