Strongwomxn

Strongwomxn is a series of events that I created and have been running for two years now at Strongroom. These take place around International Womens Day and feature a range of workshops, live music, DJs and discussions with womxn in the music industry. With this series, I was in charge of curating, designing, photographing, advertising and setting up on the day.

The workshops have so far included vocal and piano mic shootouts. These events have been free or donation based and give a true insight of what it's like to work in one of Strongroom's studios for a day. Womxn get to come and experience the whole process of setting up the equipment before shooting the audio into one of the mixing desks.
The discussions feature womxn who work in various sectors of the industry. Previously we have had the pleasure of having on the panel the Studio Manager for Metropolis Studios, Head of Label at Hospital Records, Live promotors for Spectrum Gigs (a promotions collective dedicated to diversity, equality & inclusion) and Sound Engineer for National Theatre to name a few.

These discussion's have covered the realities and difficulties womxn face in the music scene today along with tips and how to get into the industry.
