Studio/Product Development Intern & Backstage Dresser: Spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear

  • Rain Y. Cinar

I have interned at Peter Pilotto for six months, which gave me the opportunity to experiment in different roles. Started my position as a studio intern and later on began to assist the product developers for previous collection of Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear while helping the preparation of upcoming collection Spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear. As a studio intern I have participated in preparing the layout of the patterns regarding the print placements, cutting fabric for production with all the marks, testing newly arrived fabrics for production (print, defect, steam, iron, fuse, wear, etc.) and recording all the information necessary. Working for two different collections in the production and product development process, organising and updating raw materials and keeping an inventory check on weekly basis was essential to keep the studio space neat and tidy. As a product development intern I have practised creating and updating Spec Sheets for ready-to-wear collections. In the process of sampling and production prepared extensive Tech Packs for variety of styles. In order to track the progress measured patterns and samples and recorded details in measurement sheets on Spec Sheets and followed the calculated discrepancies for production alterations. I have obtained the opportunity to assist fittings for ready-to-wear collection and special customer projects. Additionally, recorded the development of sample process in Toile Tracker for archive purposes. During the time, organised and recorded the archived garments from previous seasons and prepared Length Charts on InDesign to categorise them. At the end of my six months design internship I have participated as one of the backstage dressers in London Fashion Week Spring 2019 for Peter Pilotto collection. All the work demonstrated is copyrighted by Peter Pilotto, I have simply participated in the project as a design intern and backstage dresser.
