Styling, Modelling, and Creative Direction at Vivien Sophie Brand’s Paris Fashion Week show

In June, 2023, I used social media marketing to get scouted to Paris Fashion Week as a stylist, model, and public relations specialist. I used my expertise in crafting cost-effective Instagram ads in a 4-month ad campaign. I targeted European fashion capitals like London, Paris, Milan, and Berlin, to fine-tune lists of my most engaged audiences. This got Vivien Sophie Brand's attention, who was immediately impressed by my styling, design, and marketing work on Instagram. I was scouted in late June 2023 for her debut Paris Fashion Week show at Flying Solo NYC near the Arch De Triomphe. Tasked to style and model a 9-piece collection for Paris Fashion Week in less than 3 months, I did everything at my disposal to source and style an upcycled, unconventional, and unforgettable collection. Fashion is not just about the art of design and clothing, it’s about the art of communication. You need to communicate your ideas and intentions to multiple stakeholders you’re dealing with. Here’s just an example of communication skills I’ve had to employ this summer: I had to work internationally with different creatives who have their own communication styles and cultural backgrounds. I had to look at cross-cultural communication methods to build bridges, not barriers. I had to communicate suggestions and styling of designs while honouring the designer’s vision, but elevating it. I had to communicate fashion design language and learn quickly. I had to be clear about the intention behind every stakeholder involved, what the models needed to bring, what we needed from the event hosts, and what made my job as a stylist possible. I love creative people and collaborating with them from around the world. If I could spend the rest of my life debating how hats can sit on a model’s head, I would gladly do so. Because we’re not just debating hats, we’re debating images that will live on forever. Images that have found their way in Vogue, Glamour, and Elle.
