Sub natural Operations Greenwich

  • Alex Anderson
Set in south east London’s declining docks, the Subnatural Operations project (based in Greenwich) was designed to convert the area into a more welcoming natural environment.
This was to be achieved by appropriating the redundant industrial machinery that used to occupy the site. By deconstructing it and creating new sculptures within the area a trellis on an epic scale would be created. Within these new structures wildlife would grow and a new natural parkland would be created. All the while the old machinery that had been recycled in order to construct the new landscape would remain as memorial to an industrial past that used to occupy the area.
