Online surface pattern design event with Make it in Design (2021 Briefs)

I signed up for the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced challenges, designing and illustrating patterns across 6 different trend themes.

Boardwalk: ​​​​​​​a Californian coastal inspired pattern 🌴🌴

Mineral: an organic materials inspired pattern

Botanist: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​a woodland flora and fauna inspired pattern

Twisted: an ​​​​​​​organic vs digital inspired pattern

Eclectic Heirloom: a vintage floral inspired pattern

Joyful Blooms: a summer wildflowers and citrus fruit inspired pattern

A peek behind the motif process: I import scanned pencil sketches into Adobe Fresco and draw the final artwork (using vector or raster brushes, depending on the style) on my iPad or Surface Pro. I export my drawings to Illustrator or Photoshop to construct the repeat design.
