Experimenting with materiality. This project fuses couture and braiding techniques together. Placing elements within my culture on the same playing field as luxury fashion. The looks presented have been braided by a local African female owned hair salon in Dartford. Practicing sustainability in ethical outsourcing and bringing back money to my own community; where these techniques exist. Cultural sustainability by passing down traditions within my diaspora. The piece is made with braiding hair that was donated. Repurposing the hair we tend to hoard and finding a way where they can exist forever to limit our waste.
