Take Dada Seriously (it's worth it?) - Writing Womxn

  • Rochelle Roberts

A collaboration between Decorating Dissidence and Lucy Writers Platform exploring ways of writing about and writing through the women of Dada. The salon, which took place in July 2020, brought together writers and curators (including Susanna Crossman, Kuchenga and Miriam Al Jamil) for an experimental writing session that celebrated and critiqued the legacy of the Baroness Elsa von Freytag, Mina Loy, Hannah Höch and other Dada women. Key to the salon's collaborative spirit, it was divided between themed discussions between the panellist of writers, led by myself and Elodie, and the creation of a modern-day manifesto by attendees of the salon, for an inclusive, democratic contemporary avant-garde.
