TAT-TOO MUCH!

TAT TOO MUCH! began as a spark of an idea, brought to us by our former V&A Gilbert Collection Resident Silvia Weidenbach. What would happen if we brought together the expertise of Beatriz Chadour-Sampson, Independent Curator and Jewellery Historian, Torsten Illner, Tatto Artist and Rita Lass, Book Artist? This project explored the creative interplay between the Gilbert Collections, adornment and tattooing encountering art historical perspectives and practical tattoo techniques onto leather boxes. I even ended up with a tattoo of an 18th century chimney sweep off one of the gold boxes on my ankle!
