The Anxiety Tapes (2021)

  • Francesca Salmasi

‘The Anxiety Tapes’ is a self authored documentary reflecting on my experiences with anxiety from childhood to today. This was my first experience with smartphone filmmaking, which when combined with animation created a very intimate portrait of the internal and external narrative within this film. This film looks at anxiety through an honest lens. Within the film’s creative form of commentary and gallows humour, the audience can really connect to many of the thoughts and feelings expressed in the film. ‘The Anxiety Tapes’ is set against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic, giving the film a new layer of nuance - as this was a time when many of us felt anxious and unsure of the world around us. The Anxiety Tapes is currently on the festival circuit and premiered as a nominee at ‘The International Smart Phone Film Festival’.
