The Artist's Studio for Flanelle Magazine

The direct translation of ‘toile’ from French is ‘canvas’, which is where this concept draws its initial inspiration from. While as a society we are becoming more aware of the unethical practises behind fast-fashion brands, more and more consumers are buying into the trend of single-use or ‘throw-away’ fashion at all levels of the market. The concept of the editorial follows a sustainable message; drawing comparisons between the processes of sculpture and garment creation. The aim of this editorial is to reposition garments as something of cultural value, to be appreciated and prized, in such a way as we do with artwork.
