The Billabong Project

The Billabong Project is a campaign aiming to bring people of different cultures together and celebrate the diversity of the Australian multicultural society. This project combines traditional and modern narratives of Australian-ness to reinforce the idea that for multiculturalism to prosper in Australia it is imperative to always be creating new narratives of solidarity. The concept draws on the ‘traditional’ Australian motif of a billabong. The biodiversity of animals supported by a billabong acts as a metaphor for the coming together of people from diverse backgrounds. With particular on the gum tree leaves hanging over the water. My campaign promotes this coming together of diversity to create solidarity.
