The Blind Spot

A set of outdoor adverts created for D&AD brief set by 21 Grams. The purpose of this challenge was to bring awareness to melanoma, a variant of skin cancer that is disproportionally more fatal in people of colour. By spreading information on how to spot melanoma, this will increase early diagnosis. I researched cancer advertisements, watched documentaries, read articles, and utilised personal resources, such as my African American partner and my Mum who is a nurse. This heightened my knowledge on melanoma and racial biases in medicine and I was able to create a range of posters. Adding QR codes allowed me to present vital information on the posters while additional information could be found when the codes are scanned. The final result was an accumulation of posters that bring awareness to melanoma, that speak specifically to people of colour.
