The Brighton Scratch Night was curated in 2017 by Pip O'Neill and Luke Ofield of Unmasked Theatre. After struggling with redrafts and finding helpful advice ourselves,we decided to create a place where writers can send their scripts to see life beyond the four walls of a bedroom at 3am. Over the past three years, we have seen Writers go on to have shows performed at Edinburgh Fringe, Camden Fringe, The Park, The Vaults and have R&D at the Wyndhams and the Noel Coward Theatre. Unmasked Theatre have produced Three full length productions as part of the Brighton Fringe. 2017 - Living with George by Jayne Woodhouse - "Beautiful, nostalgic, heart wrenching" 2018 - Cooked by Natalie Audley - "Unmasked Theatre have nailed it...Audley’s sharp writing is championed by commitment to character and strong, believable performance" 2019 - Further Education by Pete Barrett. - "Unmasked Theatre won Best of Fringe IYAF – for good reason. It’s a strong, committed production of a very fine comedy." The night continues to grow with scripts submitted from all over the world -and offers opportunities for writers, directors and actors at every stage of their career.
