The Daily Mews

Media, as we do and have known, controls (skews) how we view the present. As much as we like to believe that the sole purpose of media is to empower us and inform us, there are a lot more layers to this illusion. My research spotlights this digital construction of trust by news media that has firmly rooted itself in our global landscape. Through my work, I'm exploring ways to introduce the concept of critical reading to a particular line of media that we are exposed to everyday (news). Using counter-narratives that enable us to see multiple layers and not just polarise entities, adapting guerrilla journalism, and by merely expressing the blur of what is truth and not.

Through this experiment, I'm questioning the authority and control the current official language of news media has on us. By creating this alternate way of displaying news by juxtaposing headlines on an alternate cultural element, I'm using satire to draw attention to the system that we are all an integral part of.
