I rewrote some of the most iconic movies of the past 50 years. I know, right? I'm not saying there is anything 'wrong' with Apocalypse Now, It's a mighty fine piece of cinema. The same thing can be said of Goodfellas, Halloween and The Usual Suspects. What hasn't been said about Quentin Tarantino and Reservoir Dogs?
No, the idea wasn't to recreate greatness, it was to explore the science of scriptwriting and add a spoonful of dynamite to my creativity. I wanted to take the films I grew up with and cast myself in the lead role; cast my family into the limelight of movie fiction.
