The first; the true, the acquaintance is an editorial series retelling a non-fiction love story of a Filipino national hero Jose Rizal and all the women in his life, his first love when he was younger, his true love; the one who he kept going back to but nothing was ever perused due to family conflictions, and the acquaintances throughout his life. A love story re-told in a contemporary style creating a linear narrative capturing the different stages of emotions whether it may be in his perspective or the women’s viewpoint of their relationship. The whole aesthetic comes from the adoration of different Asian cultures and the rich tone colours that they bring whether its from the way they dress, their distinctive art, music, literature and embracing my own ethnicity as a Filipina, specifically observing into the renaissance era are the core inspirations that has driven this whole editorial together. One narrative, an umbrella of: emotion, styling and aesthetics Looking for the unseen grandeur locations of The North has to offer also plays a part of the first, the true and the acquaintance editorial series, using these found locations to set the scene of the narrative, celebrating the hidden opulence of The North. A hybrid of different cultures, curating and interpreting it to a modern series of photography and styling.
