The Fleming Hotel, located in Wan Chai, closed to Victoria Harbour, was opened in 2006. We were approached to rebrand and redesign its identity, architecture, interior, furniture, and products. Taking its location and history as a reflection of Hong Kong, we drew inspiration from the 70’s Hong Kong industrial era; to create a cultural, social, and efficient characteristic for the hotel. To flourish and balance the three characteristics, Star Ferry, a unique way to enjoy both sides of the harbour and a collective memory from past to present. The ferry concept is used as a foundation for every design detail, including the custom designed signage, furniture and lighting.

A scent of Nostalgia, and Hong Kong maritime heritage is further evoked through the hotel toiletries and aroma. The fragrance of sandalwood and amber notes, draw the images of temples, ferries, fishing boats, and apothecary in Hong Kong.
