The Grasp Project

  • Evelyn Rinaldi
I am a co-founder of The Grasp Project, in association with Oh Comely Magazine of London. The premise of this initiative was to re-invent craft in our current digital age by promoting the authenticity and quality of handmade products, as well as encouraging entrepreneurship within the craft industry, while making arts and crafts more accessible to the local community. To facilitate this, the team hosted a daylong program of workshops, followed by an evening event of artist talks and musicians at The Factory Studios in Bournemouth. The workshops were taught by artists from the Craft Council Hothouse 100 list.

The team worked with sponsors such as Hey Create, Lush Cosmetics Charity Pot, Propercorn, and Conker Spirits. I was responsible for a variety of jobs, including liaising with the venue manager and musicians, as well as supporting the marketing coordinator with online campaigning and updating the website.

The casual partnership with Oh Comely Magazine was helpful to the The Grasp Project by supporting the creative development of the project, and raising the initiatives profile by supporting us with online marketing, and print advertising. (Advertisement can be found in Issue 29 of Oh Comely)
