The Hair Tales is a docuseries about Black women, beauty and identity through the distinctive lens of Black hair. From executive producers Tracee Ellis Ross and Michaela Angela Davis, “The Hair Tales” will lead the audience through a revelatory journey of connecting the personal tales of phenomenal Black women to broader societal and historic themes. I was brought onto this project as a development coordinator where I assisted in the research and writing of story beats and treatments that would be incorporate to the show. I worked alongside executive producer Michaela in creating a syllabus which included scholars that had written about Black hair and beauty which informed a larger writer room in episode outlines. My role carried into production as the show progressed and changes were made. I continued to work on fleshing out themes, writing questions for the directors and assisting with all things creative development with this show.
