The House of Kasilina

  • Darran Rees

Commission for the UK based charity 'Send a Cow' celebrating their 30th anniversary of working with the impoverished in Africa. Two days spent with 70yr old Kasilina and her family in her old run down, two-room home of twenty five years. She is at last about to move into her newly built house nearby that the charity has helped to facilitate. The charity's 30th anniversary book of my work about Kasilina and others like her in Uganda, was produced and published by the charity in 2019.

The story of the charity in one image. The gift of the milking cow. It's milk to sell, it's fertilizer to increase crop yield that creates revenue and sustainability. Electricity afforded through solar panels. Homework and reading and being able to send children to school thus better life chances and access to employment later on.
People are enabled to learn and lift their own way out of poverty with the initial support and follow-up from S.A.C. ( night-day post production - 'The Operators'- London ).
