Welcome to the Hybrid Drummer!
This course has been designed for drummers who are looking to open up a whole new chapter on their playing. If you are interested in adding electronics to your setup, but are overwhelmed by the sheer mass of information to learn. This course is for you!
I made this course because there was no in-depth guide to show how we can use electronic drums. As an ever growing field, I felt it would be beneficial for the drumming community to construct a unique course covering all the specialised information YOU need to get you programming and playing confidently.
In this course I will be teaching you - from the ground up - how to operate and play electronics on your drums. Alongside this, I will be teaching you how to authentically play several styles of electronic music, as well as teaching you the absolute essentials for live performance.
You don't need electronic drums to do this course, chapter two is great for those who don't have the tech handy.
The course has three chapters. Each of these chapters covers a different subject:
The Tech - Chapter one will give you all the relevant information on how it all works, from setting up your first drum pad, to programming synths to play while you drum! Here are some of the main things covered:
Learning what MIDI data is and how to use it
How we can use MIDI controllers and triggers
Utilising samplers and how to sample
Learning what programme changes are and how we can apply them
How to trigger external instrument
...and MUCH more!
The Drums - Chapter two is moving away from the tech to focus on building the skills and techniques on the Acoustic Kit that will make playing electronic music both enjoyable and simple! We will cover:
The Gig - Chapter three is all about live performance. This is for when you have used the skills in the two previous chapters to make new and exciting music and are ready to perform live! This chapter will give you all the information you need to confidently approach a gig. This chapter contains:
How to play with a metronome live
Pre-Production tips
How to set up a monitor mix
Troubleshooting and Damage Prevention
Much more!
