I developed the idea for a festival celebrating womens' roles in cities, and how everyone can involve themselves in creating better public space. A day of talks featuring Helen Pidd (The Guardian), Jennifer Williams (Manchester Evening News), Elizabeth Alker (6Music), Emma Jane Unsworth (Animals), Beccy Meehan (North West Tonight) as well as poets, musicians, and city planners. The day was foccused on Stevenson Square specifically. We also looked at ways to celebrate forgotten stories by taking over bus stops and turning them into interpretation boards. My role was project manager, I trained a team of volunteers, and conceived of the idea, and ran it to great acclaim with invaluable help from Naomi Burl of PlanIT and Stephen O'Malley of Civic Engineers who developed green spaces and visions for a new streetscape.
