The Lily Pond

  • Emily Sharp

Within this project I have continued to explore the concept of 'The Lily Pond' through the context of fine art, challenging my drawing style with a much more conceptual approach to working. My designs become a colourful and abstract representation of the natural world and our environment, engaging with and recording my connection to my surroundings in a more spontaneous way. Through intuitively painting, I have investigated the concept of value by transforming everyday experiences with the natural world into works of art. The concept of value and how value can be added to something is introduced. My aim is to bring an essence of contemporary luxury into a grand home or hotel setting. Through abstract statement pieces including one off print designs and wall murals, rich colour palettes and whimsical compositions create contemporary accents throughout the luxurious interior. This captures an essence of modern opulence through their reference to fine art. Through the exploration of curation, I demonstrate how art works can work together through conversational design within a final collection. I also explore what a gallery space is and challenge what it can be.

The following paintings form my final collection.

All paintings are A1 or A2 in size and are embellished with gold leaf.
