The Makers is a series of short films and interviews that aim to tell the story of some of our talented members at Peckham Levels. It may not always be open to the public but Levels 1-4 is a bustle of activity, collaboration, making and creating. 'The Makers' is an exclusive peek behind the scenes to meet the people that make Peckham Levels and to take a look inside their units.

"There seemed to be a real lack of ambition and value for what was possible for people with learning disabilities making art work, in terms of what they could access, material spaces and opportunities. We wanted to create that opportunity."

We sat down with Ella from Intoart to talk about how the visual arts charity came about and their future plans. Full article can be found at https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-into-art.

"If you've got a vision it will organically grow. A lot of businesses expand too fast and it doesn’t work out because they haven't got the right team. You need to build a really trustworthy, small team and then you can grow from there."

We sat down with Holly from 3rd Rail Print Space to talk about their journey. Full article can be found at https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-3rd-rail-print-space.

"I was that kid who used to make radio shows with a two deck type player. I would sit and listen to the chart and try and record Destiny's Child. (Radio) is a deeply personal medium. It interacts with people in a way that TV can't..."

A conversation with Frankie and Ami of Foundation.fm. A female led, online, community radio station, founded by Becky Richardson, Ami Bennett and Frankie Wells. Full article at https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-foundation.fm

"...as everyone's in a creative practice there's so much you have in common even though your practices are different. There's a kind of glue that binds us all together."

We sat down with Dan of The Bright Rooms to talk about their journey and the introduction of SixSeven. Full article at https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-six-seven.

"Regardless of whether you're a digital or analogue photographer, if you know the basics of analogue it will make you a better photographer."

"I like challenging things to print, like organic models. We often print miniature versions of a sculpture before the artist uses that as a reference to sculpt from. I get artists sneaking in here asking how they can incorporate 3D printing into their sculptures."

Conversation with Champion 3D. Full interview can be found here: https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-champion-3d.

"I've lived in Peckham since I was a 10 years old and the face of this high street has completely changed...I wanted to bring a group of young people in here and show them that they are allowed in here and that we are putting their needs first."

We sat down with Leanne Pero director of The Movement Factory to talk about how dance changed her live and her mission to continue to do the same for others. Full article at https://www.peckhamlevels.org/blog/the-makers-the-movement-factory

"I say to everybody that my work is everything but dance. It’s about dance and how dance engages people. It's about giving them a source of inspiration, but inspiration that they can meet, real pathways that they can go, because to be honest - that's not happening."
