I am chair of the Nihal Armstrong Trust, a charity I set up in the name of my disabled son who passed away.
We give grants to families of disabled children for cutting edge equipment and services not normally provided by the state.
I also wrote a book in verse about our life together called Don't Wake Me: The Ballad of Nihal Armstrong. the paperback version is out of print and I am currently in negotiation with publishers about reprinting it. It was turned into a stage play which toured UK, New York and India to great acclaim.
David Schwimmer of Friends saw it in NYC and said, “Rahila Gupta’s heartbreaking, beautiful and important new work tackles the infuriating battles a Mother must face by choosing to fight for her disabled son’s dignity, education and very life.”
