The Peach Diaries - Issue 2

  • Elinor Rawlingson

Sophie and I started this ongoing project surrounding the topic of contraception and it's wider themes, back in January 2017. Having made a sold-out successful zine in 2017, we produced a second follow up zine in late 2018. While Issue 1 was full of my own drawings surrounding the stories, issue 2 became much more community focused with art, illustration, craft and photography featured inside as well. We continued the discussion that the first zine brought up - that many of the experiences people that people had were bad at some point, but that this was almost to be expected and seen as the 'norm'. Through our dedicated website and social media channels, we also further the conversation on contraceptives by busting myths about sex and it's wider topics. In late 2018 and early 2019, we've had the pleasure of working with some well known and lesser known charities, such as Solace Women's Aid, using our zine skills and methods of visual communication to convey their messages too. Our largest project collaboration with Solace saw us make zines for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. You can see the SSTAR project for Solace in Sophie Rawlingson's profile.
