The Penguin Book of Christmas Short Stories

This is my cover for The Penguin Book of Christmas Stories. Featuring an illustration by Eyvind Earle, a wonderful 20th century illustrator / painter / print-maker. Earle is best known for defining the style of Disney’s background art in their animated films of the 50s, in particular Sleeping Beauty. He also designed over 800 Christmas cards for the American market in the 1940s, which is probably where this illustration comes from (although there is scant information about it online). The cover is printed 3-colour (two Pantones, plus Black), just like Earle’s original. A big thank you to Emilie Chen for introducing me to the work of Eyvind Earle.
