The Porous Office was a project where we should turn our attention to the workplace as a shifting typology, and in particular we investigated how work intersects with both our domestic lives as well as the public realm. The Porous Office explored among other topics: - the permeability between inside and outside, physically and virtually - how working places welcome ‘residents’ and those passing through -how these spaces might be fit for people and for machines (increased heat, cables and density) - the intermittent use of office space over 24 hours - how space can enhance social interaction - how space can become mixed-use, allowing users to share their ideas and experiences - how working space can embed agile, open-source, dispersed and distributed spatial patterns - how work shifts from company to community - how these spaces will host incomplete, loose-fit, on going, in process programmes Concept: Purpose of this building is a co-working space with more than 1 activity. This space is created by 3 key areas- public, semi- open and private. Public and semi- open areas are overlapping on lower floors. After you enter the space on the left side you can see transparent walls which create outside space. This space is determined for digital garden. Ground floor of this garden is open for public and the rest of the floors is determined for ad companies. Public space is created by bar and seating areas (+ toilets) where public can freely move through the space and order drinks. As you are passing further to the space you can enter the semi- open area (for public it is open after 5pm, before that this space can only enter employees of advertising companies and their clients) where meetings between ad company and their client happens and later on workshops for public are held. Stairs from semi-open area are leading to private area which is completely closed for the public and can only be seen from below. Within this space operate 3 advertising companies that have their own offices on higher floors of the building (private area). Mentioned offices are smaller and bigger boxes that have digital ads (holograms) on their sides. Between private and public area is a dark empty void (bricks are painted in black colour) that is only lightened by this advert’s holograms. For public it creates a feeling/ view as you were wondering through well-known streets in famous cities during the night time. This is my aim in this project.
