The Radical Self Love Project was created for young women to spread awareness of self-love and confidence in ones body. When we look at society today, many young girls are growing up in a digital first world that distorts their image of what it means to be beautiful. Social media in particular, has increasingly become a platform that reinforces cultural beliefs and projects strong views on how women should look. And often times we as individuals unknowingly or knowingly validate and perpetuate these ideologies. The more we look at perfect images of others and then look to find those same idealised characteristics in ourselves and don’t find them, the worse we feel about ourselves. This is a dangerous cycle that breeds discontent. Which is why this is a narrative that we need to change. You don’t need to look like others to fit it. Your “imperfections” are perfection. This visual short piece explores the representation of confidence and happiness in one's own body. Celebrates all females body “imperfections”, encourages women to love and cherish their bodies.
