The charity The Reading Agency runs creative programmes to help people to feel inspired and confident about reading. Reading can help take people out of unemployment, into education, connect to their community, raise spirits and fire imaginations. The aim behind The Reading Agency is to give everyone an equal chance in life.
There is overwhelming evidence that literacy has a significant relationship to people’s life chances. However, in the UK today 35% of adults and 46% of young people don’t read for pleasure. Only 40% of England’s ten year olds have a positive attitude to reading. The Reading Agency is changing this. The Reading Agency came to Cause4, as one of our first clients, because they needed to strategically think about their fundraising development. There was also an obvious need for a simplification of the charity’s programmes.
Cause4 initially undertook a strategic piece of work to restructure and simplify the programmes in order to increase impact, improve fundraising potential and seek sustainability. Since then we have gone on to raise £ to support the Reading Agency’s incredible work.
