The Rest of Our Lives

'The Rest Our Lives' is a project I decided to shoot during the lockdown of 2020. It was a time of extreme disconnect, both with people and my artistry. I wanted to somehow remedy this by taking social distanced of portraits of other black people within the midlands area. During the project, the killing of George Floyd in the USA sparked a mass global discourse about race relations, gender equality, and wider representation, which gave the project a deeply current cultural relevance, particular in the global black community. It was after this that I asked the participants to write a short paragraph about what the year 2020 gave them in terms of lived experience.
