The return of football for Adidas London

  • Gabriel Hutchinson

The COVID pandemic hit all areas of society and shutdown most of life as we know it. Although things slowly started to return to "normal", amateur sport was one area which stayed closed off. To celebrate restrictions being lifted, Adidas and their #AdidasFootballCollective covered the match costs of 200 teams to help life feel a little more normal for thousands of people. I was commissioned to photograph the first match of the weekend in the Premier Division where Old Suttonians came back from a goal down to win 3-1. Being amongst the players of both teams and their families, it was clear that kicking a ball between 22 people meant more than they maybe realised. I doubt they will ever take it for granted again.
