The Sherpa Code

  • Dan Moggs

The Sherpa Code is a six-month long pledge for Western climbers to complete during the training period before their Everest expedition. The aim of the pledge is to build stronger relations between Western climbers and the Nepalese Sherpa community, through an app that connects the two parties through conversation. The participants progression is measured through the Endless Knot, an auspicious symbol in Buddhist culture that represents the unity of thought and action, words and deeds, wisdom and compassion. The pledge is only complete once the knot has finished its cycle, awarding the participant with a badge to wear on their expedition.
