The Sum of Everything

“I am the sum total of everything that went before me, of all I have been seen done, of everything done-to-me. I am everyone everything whose being-in-the-world affected was affected by mine. I am anything that happens after I'm gone which would not have happened if I had not come.” A collaborative project based on our personal experiences with cultural identity, its transience, and its ability to make you feel displaced. We all come from different countries and have grappled with the “East vs West” mentality – feeling too “western” for our home countries yet too “Asian”. This project explores our relationship to where we’ve come from, where we are, and how these places and experiences have shaped who we are.
