The Theatre and Performance Design Education Conference - March 2018

  • Joké Adejumo
The international conference held over two days at The Barbican and Wimbledon College of Arts, aimed to the launch the Theatre and Performance Design Education Network – bringing together teachers and researchers from a host of international institutions engaged with the teaching of theatre and performance design and its affiliated fields.
Supported by UAL, the new network will provide a lively forum for interrogating, developing and sharing pedagogical approaches in theatre and performance design education, as well as scenographic practice.
Designed to share best practice, the network will strategize for the future and explore key questions such as how we equip theatre and performance design students with the skills and knowledge to both work in the creative industries and how to shape them in the future.
The newly launched network will now actively promote international platforms for leading research with a focus on innovation and experimentation. It will also develop and support cross-institutional projects and staff exchanges for the benefit of students and staff.
