The Unfinished Unfinished Project Project

As a coastal community the Adur Valley in West Sussex attracts sailors, artists, makers, fixers and dreamers. A treasured car, boat, bike or aeroplane might elicit closely held memories, or be a promise of new experiences, but to resurrect a once new machine takes knowledge, graft and skill. Optimism often wins over practicality and this is evident in the gardens, boatyards and driveways of the Adur Valley. This unfinished project documents the unfinished projects lying pregnant with possibility in the minds and driveways of Adur. The Unfinished Unfinished Project Project by Irv Bartlett is an ongoing body of work in the manner of the New Topographics "stylistic anonymity", recording the desire for individuality in suburbia through optimistic restoration.
