The Welcome Chorus

The Welcome Chorus was a digital commission for Turner Contemporary in Margate, which brought together sound, sculpture and artificial intelligence (AI) in an interactive outdoor installation. I was part of Yuri Suzuki's team at Pentagram working on this project, from winning the initial pitch to its installation. I worked across the design development, art direction and project management of the piece. The horns continually sung lyrics which were generated live by a uniquely trained, site-specific piece of AI software. The AI data bank contained lyrics generated from workshops at Kent libraries as well as on-site input from visitors singing into the conductor to create an ever-changing choral composition. The installation was on display from 28 September 2019 - 23 February 2020.
