The World Cinema Film Festival was founded in 2018 by Bluebird Pictures owner Joelle Mae David. Joelle wanted to create a festival directly linked to Bluebird to engage with and support emerging filmmakers all over the world. The festival is a celebration of bridging the gap between cultures and communities through a universal love of film. Over 6 or 7 months each year emerging filmmakers are invited to submit their short film, animation or documentary under 20 minutes on FilmFreeway. In July every year, we host a special two-day event in London and Los Angeles to celebrate world cinema and our growing family of filmmakers. Filmmakers win meetings with industry experts, Final Draft screenwriting software, a management deal with our friends at Emagine Content in Los Angeles, a screening at the event in both London and LA, free membership with Backstage casting, ongoing support from Bluebird Pictures and much more! Given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, our festival event this year has been cancelled but we are still accepting submissions and doing an online festival instead. Our online festival will consist of Q&A’s with industry pros (we will announce them on our social media channels where you can send in your questions) filmmaking competitions, winners films, and selected films. This will be completely free to register for, however we will also be including an ‘at-home’ ticket. This ticket will be a goodie bag full of treats, a programme, discounts, limited tote bag and more to be announced.
