This is not. A Muse (2021)

  • Thaís DeMelo

This is not. A muse, synthesizes the heterogeneous concept of art. Fleeing from the position of "muses" in hollow frames during the maintenance of the paciência gallery, in salvador, brazil, 7 female artists from different parts of the country express with their bodies and movements their own final arts based in previous works of art. During 3 days, performances were carried out involving singing, body performance, sculpture, modern and contemporary painting canvases, poetry and dances. The artists responses involve temporal, physical, emotional and sensorial experiences -- starting from the kantian fruition concept, the being interprets the same projection in different ways, dissenting views on the interpretation of art. Itinerant project The film was created with the aim of becoming an itinerant project to be carried out in galleries, museums, residencies and art spaces. The itinerant project is currently happening in europe this year of 2022, during artistic residencies. We are sending proposals and gathering more institutions to support the project throughout the year to develop it in several countries with a diversity of performers including trans, non-binary and other underrepresented social groups. The artist who is living a project - is always in the future. The project works on a point that allows them to emigrate from the past to the future, causing a temporal rupture between themselves and everyone else. The so-called “process” has become synonymous with and almost a mandatory condition for starting a career in a field of arts. Imperceptibly transformed into a methodical-disciplinary model for the realization of the art object, it involves a possible prediction of distinct phases, defining its genesis. A dream come true or an illusion by a contemporary age tired with desires for renewal? It reproduces what has passed and expresses itself and lives what will pass.
