With the 2016 Fall/Winter season, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon paid homage to Japan and Kenzo’s founder Kenzo Takada. Influenced by japanese countercultures dear to Takada and by the respect of Japanese people for their heritage, their prints brought us to explore the collection through a unique storyline: Through the eyes of our heroine we are wandering through Tokyo’s small back alleys lit by blinking neons, losing ourselves in a huge tokyo superclub, sneaking down into a shibari room, falling into a sea full of cherry blossoms to end with a tribute to powerful women. On the back of our success with last seaons’ film we wanted to have even more of a narrative continuously flowing through all patterns. Each pattern was treated as an environment, a world the character passes through and experiences, and together they form a hyper colored trip through this season’s KENZO.
