A new pool house with guest accommodation was sought for the family residence. The new site situated within a mature garden is surrounded by indigenous exotic plants. The design approach sought inspiration from its native vegetation and local architecture, resulting in a new garden like structure that would complement the garden. The accommodation comprising of two blocks, living & sleeping, is orientated around the pool while maintaining a visual connection to the main house. The living accommodation comprises of a shallow pitch roof responding to the local vernacular with the sleeping accommodation comprising of an intersecting flat roof style pavilion. The guest wing is shroud in Eucalyptus sticks that harmonise its existence within the mature garden. Natural light is filtered through the sticks, connecting the user with nature and giving a sense of tranquillity. Large sliding panels to the living area open the internal space onto the pool terrace allowing the garden to extend internally.
