TRI

TRI is a result of the first brief I received when starting my second year of studying on the fine furniture course, at the Building Crafts College in London. The outline of the brief was to design and build a table, where form should follow function. It was a seven-week process and from it I designed and created TRI, a series of three useful objects that can be used separately or together, as a part of multifunctional table. They work as part of a furniture family, speaking the same language and fitting together when needed, but then with the ability of working alone around the house if required.
An exposed ply edge runs throughout each piece like a geometric, timber river. The durable white laminate and the soft orange linoleum highlight this. The aesthetics of this piece ensure its translation to the user. My aim was to be able to have all three pieces in different parts of the home, but with the ability to visibly connect them due to the similar elements. The smooth return of each component together was important, but I designed each piece to stand-alone so that housing them together is not a necessity.
