Article illustrated for Aquila Magazine for the Industrial Revolution, on the story of the Thames Tunnel. Built by the Marc Isambard Brunel, the Thames Tunnel was an engineering feat! It tooks years to complete. halfway through the build, the world’s first underwater dinner party was held in November 1827. Fifty guests, including the Duke of Wellington, dined under the sea. The walls of the tunnel were draped in crimson and the long table was set with silver and crystal, and the Coldstream Guards play the national anthem.
