University of Brighton Campus Cafe

  • Mark Kent

As a Brighton graduate, I was invited to help the University of Brightons Modern Spaces Programme to help with the design and execution of some of their student spaces at their campus's. One of these included the cafe in the Grand Parade campus that was to be redesigned with a more contemporary and welcoming feel for students, staff and visitors. The Modern Spaces Programme decided on a simple concept of cut out circle onto the large bay of windows with a clearer sign that this area was a cafe. The circles would allow natural light from the outside quad area to pass through the circular shapes into the cafe at certain times of the day with the circles and blue colour being on brand with the university .
