'Unseen' Art Exhibition of Jacob Holdt at Palazzo Medici Riccardi

The brief was to find a space, curate an exhibition around a chosen title and theme. This included selecting and curating artworks and promoting the show with self designed graphics, posters, tickets, invites and online space. I chose the theme 'unseen' to display a series of photographs depicting poverty in USA in the 1970's. The art portrayed the hardship of life in a brutal, raw way. However, beneath the surface they also showed intimacy, community and love. i tried to draw out the contrast and tension between the shocking images of the photographs and the beauty and depth of emotion and human intimacy. I decided to hold the exhibition at The Palazzo Medici Riccardi as this palace is grand and beautiful but has a hidden brutal history. The opulence of the palace contrasted strongly with the starkness of the images.
