Untold Stories: Hair on Set
As a studio we were delighted to be approached to create animations for the brilliant documentary: Untold Stories: Hair on set. The film discusses the UK film industry’s general approach to dealing with Black and mixed race actors having afro and curly textured hair. Being a black owned studio, this was a subject close to our hearts. The designs and concepts were created to reflect the scripts and subsequently our own personal experiences with managing natural afro and textured hair. Significant amount of time was spent during development to ensure the character designs captured the likeness and approachability of the documentary ‘s host Fola Evans Akingbola. The final animations supported the live action documentary to relay an important perspective from working as a black actor on set in modern day Britain.
