THE BRIEF:
VO5, Unilever’s hair brand, wanted to launch a range of products designed to create casual, male hairstyles, through sponsorship of the UK teen soap ‘Hollyoaks’.
THE IDEA:
Create what appeared to be a real Folk band called ‘The Oaks’.
In order to make a fake band real, their back catalogue and a paper trail needed to be created. Their influences, personnel, how the band was formed, how it evolved, etc. The Oaks needed a life beyond the show Hollyoaks.
Beyond hair products. Beyond hair. In short, they needed a story. A Folkumentary.
